Three layers of hand-painted silk organza are pieced together through embroidery, with sections cut away to create layered transparency. The finished piece is stretched over a wooden frame secured with brass nails.

My engagement with distortion, layering, and transparency in painting and drawing prompted an investigation into silk organza as a material support, a way to separate and reorganize my drawings into transparent silk layers. Once stretched onto a frame, the fabric's inherent stiffness allows dye to be absorbed with minimal bleeding, while affording a narrow window of time for controlled color blending, akin to watercolor technique. Hand embroidery punctures moments of connection that resolve the tension created by overlapping layers of fabric and color, creating a final "drawing" layer. Each work reflects a practice rooted in intuition and repetition.
